Caricature Art: The Heart Of Our Ministry

Rom Webster, they call us. This pen name is at the heart of our folk art team, creating content from CARICATURES for groups and communities over the years. And Opa (Frank) does much of the writing and all of the caricatures and stories.

Bible Study Cartoons uses “caricature art” to tell Bible stories in ways that you’ve not heard them before. Straight from the Bible, but with a very real, human touch too—contemporary reactions to ancient stories and truth. It’s humorous… memorable… and effective! Enjoy!

Caricature Art As Ministry

We did it as a kid while still in school. We did it in the military both here and abroad. We did it in the workplace after the military. We’ve done it on the streets with our friends who are down and out. And we have done it on the highways and byways with bikers, truckers, and cowboys too.

We draw people… to draw people (crowds)… to draw people (evangelization) to Christ. We’ve drawn caricatures in all over America, in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean too.

Wherever we go, we do it because it is who we are! Who do people say you are? Who do you say you are? (Mark 8:27-29)

The Cast of Characters

You’ve probably seen paintings of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Maybe you’ve seen iconic art of some of the apostles and disciple (the saints)—and even an angel or two. But have you ever actually seen these people? Chances are, the answer is NO. Of course, we can’t show you any photos of these old folks from the Bible. But probably, none of them look much like the paintings and icons we are familiar with anyway. So we decided we would draw caricatures of them. Caricatures have a way of telling the truth that just can’t be done with photos anyway. Here are a few caricatures of some of the of the good folks from the Bible that you’re going to meet here on Bible Study Cartoons. Enjoy! Have fun! And get to know Jesus not only as King, Lord, and Savior, but also as Friend and Brother.
